Nancy Grant’s specialty as a freelance journalist is explaining scientific and technical concepts clearly and concisely for general audiences, with more than 350 articles published in print and electronic media since 1986. She is a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors. Her reporting is straightforward traditional journalism, based on carefully researched facts, presented without hype, and without political bias or overtones. She does not write opinion pieces or editorials.

Grant’s special area of expertise is the electric power industry. She reports on the nuts and bolts of all aspects of electricity generation, transmission, distribution, consumption, environmental and financial regulation, and energy efficiency, with scrupulous attention to detail, and without political bias.

Grant’s work as the “Future of Electricity” columnist for a statewide electric cooperative magazine from 2002 through 2016 won several national awards for technical writing.

Grant has also researched and written special reports for the National Rural Electric Cooperation Association and appeared as a panelist at energy conferences and on radio talk shows.
